Who doesn’t want to enjoy a good Pixar movie in a drive-in movie style?

The Nanaimo Clippers hockey club has gotten approval from Island Health to set-up a drive-in theatre and host multiple community movie nights.

The movies of choice will include a couple of recent Pixar releases in Toy Story 4 and Onward as well a Will Ferrell classic, Step Brothers.

According to a release from the BC Hockey League team, the drive-in theatre and the services being offered have been tailored in adherence to the guidelines of BC health officials in order to ensure a safe, low-risk experience.

“We are allowed 50 vehicles per movie, we cannot have washroom facilities and cars will need to be spaced out accordingly,” said Tali Campbell, Clippers general manager.
The Clippers will be offering two weekends of movies, making a couple nights exclusive for their season ticket holders:
    • June 12 – Onward – Nanaimo Clippers Season Ticket Holders ONLY
    • June 13 – Toy Story 4 – Nanaimo Clippers Season Ticket Holders ONLY
    • June 19 – Step Brothers – General Public
    • June 20 – Toy Story 4 – General Public
    • June 21 – Onward – General Public
“This is a family free event we are bringing to the community during these tough times,” Campbell added. “Each movie will start around 9:30 PM, depending on when it gets dark.”
According to the hockey organization, the 50 cars selected to attend each movie night will be done by a lottery format and selected at random. Anyone interested in attending the event is asked to fill out the online form here.
In addition, the Clippers said the location of the drive-in theatre will be released at a later date.
