Nanaimo armed robbery suspect injured by police dog during arrest

Nanaimo RCMP say an armed robbery suspect received several dog bites from a police dog during an arrest on Saturday.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, 28-year-old Chase Goodale was found by police in a vehicle parked outside a south-end Nanaimo motel. Goodale was wanted in connection with an armed robbery of the Quarterway beer and wine store, which occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The Nanaimo RCMP Street Crimes Unit and an RCMP Police Dog were involved in the arrest. According to police, after Goodale was bitten several times by the dog during his arrest, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

After he was medically cleared, he was taken to the Nanaimo RCMP detachment where he remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court today.
