Greater Victoria residents are being asked to help name a new library branch set to open in early 2018 in James Bay.

Victoria’s Name That Library! campaign started Wednesday and suggestions will be accepted until midnight on Sunday, November 19.

People can support the geographic name James Bay Branch, or submit their own suggestions either through an online survey or by email.

Anyone taking part is asked to propose a suitable name along with a short explanation.

Of the current 11 branches of the Greater Victoria Public Library system, four have commemorative names. The other seven reflect geographic locations.

The new branch in James Bay will be the second in Victoria.

There is no limit to the number of names submitted, but you are asked to provide one name and rationale per survey or email.

The names will be submitted to Victoria City Council for consideration.

The library name will be announced in December.
