One woman is dead, and a man has been charged, after what police called a “violent Struggle” in a Brentwood Bay home Sunday.

According to court documents, a man by the name of Alan Charles Chapman has been charged with the first-degree murder of Emily Caruana in Central Saanich.

Officers were called to a home on the 7200-block of Meadowlark Lane at 12:30 a.m. after reports of a disturbance.

They arrived and gained entry to the home and say they immediately found signs of the violent struggle, and one person dead.

Josh Haymes who lives on the street says he was the one to call 9-1-1. He came home at around midnight and heard glass breaking and screams, shortly after Haymes recalls seeing an unknown man get into a white car that almost “ran him over” as the man drove away.

The two others hurt were taken to hospital following the incident.

Police do not believe that the attack was random.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. No further details have released by police.
