
Firefighters are working to extinguish a large brush fire near Ladysmith this afternoon.
Members with the Ladysmith Fire Rescue, North Cedar Fire Department, and the North Oyster Volunteer Fire Department are responding to a large brush fire near Oyster Sto’Lo Road and the Trans-Canada Highway.
A spokesperson with Ladysmith Fire Rescue told CHEK the blaze was first reported at 1:41 p.m. and is approximately 200 feet by 200 feet in size, but did not have any additional details.
According to Coastal Fire Centre information officer Dorothy Jacobsen, crews with the BC Wildfire Service are also assisting and a helicopter could be deployed if needed. She said it is her understanding that crews have contained the fire.
