A bomb squad has given the all-clear after a suspicious package was discovered near the entrance of Victoria General Hospital.

An RCMP explosives disposal unit, called in from Vancouver, dismantled a device left in some bushes near the entrance and “determined it was not an explosive,” West Shore RCMP said in a tweet Tuesday afternoon.

The incident did suspended operations at the hospital, and West Shore RCMP said the facility was “back to normal.”

The investigation took place at the hospital’s main entrance, which was cordoned off by police tape late Tuesday morning.

Police asked visitors to use other hospital entrances while they were on site.

An explosives-trained police service dog was also on site.

No one was injured in the incident.
