A motorcyclist travelling south on the Pacific Marine Route near Lake Cowichan failed to negotiate a corner and died on Sunday, police said.
Police have since conducted an investigation where they concluded that speed was a factor when the motorcyclist slipped out of a turn and then crashed down a steep embankment.
No other cars were involved in the crash but a witness did try to perform CPR until ambulance services arrived. However, the motorcyclist died from their injuries.
The investigation into this fatal collision is ongoing and police said if anyone has any information about the collision, they can contact Lake Cowichan RCMP at 250-749-6668.
