Motor vehicle incident takes out hydro pole on Highway 14 near Sooke

A motor vehicle incident snarled traffic along Highway 14 near Sooke, Saturday morning.

The incident involved a black BMW colliding with a hydro pole.

BC Hydro’s outage map says a motor vehicle accident affected power for less than five customers in the 5400 block of Sooke Road, just before 4 a.m. It has since been restored.

When CHEK News arrived on scene, crews had part of the road blocked off and were preparing to repair the pole.

Images from the crash show the pole splintered at its base, precariously suspended by the powerlines.

It isn’t clear what caused the crash or if anyone was injured. CHEK has reached out to authorities for more information.

Another crash occurred several hours later, only a few kilometres away at the park-and-ride station near Edward Milne high school.
