The mother of eight-year-old Linden Baglo, who was fatally struck by a truck while cycling in Nanaimo on Jan. 6, is thanking everyone who has reached out to help support the family.

Linden was riding his bicycle with his sister Shelby on Nelson Street near his home when he rode out of the driveway and collided with an F350 pickup truck. He was wearing a helmet at the time.

Nanaimo RCMP are still investigating but said alcohol, speed and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors.

Following Linden’s death, family friend Tracy Williams set up a GoFundMe campaign to help Linden’s parents, Jenn and Kalen, with funeral costs. The page has raised more than $30,000.

On Tuesday night, Jenn posted some photos of Linden on the page. One picture showed Linden in a baseball jersey with black paint on his face. In another, Jenn, Linden and Shelby are all posing with a pug. Jenn and Linden are wearing Santa hats.
