Two more weather records have been broken on Vancouver Island this week, amid a warm end to the year.

Preliminary data from Environment Canada says it was particularly warm in Tofino and Port Alberni on Thursday.

In Tofino, a high of 16 C was recorded at the Tofino airport, making it the warmest December day ever for the West Coast community.

The previous record for the region was 15.6 C set in 1969. Temperature records for the Tofino area began in 1943.

Meanwhile, Port Alberni broke a daily heat record that was standing for almost 100 years.

On Thursday, the mercury climbed to 10.6 C, up from the old record of 10.0 C set on the same day in 1929.

Temperature records for Port Alberni began in 1900.

Earlier this week, Victoria also broke a daily weather record.

On Wednesday, temperatures reached 12.9 C, breaking a record that lasted for more than 100 years, set in 1922.
