More than 700 BC Hydro customers have lost in power in parts of the Highlands, View Royal and Saanich due to a tree down on a line.
The power outage is east of Woodridge Place, west of Pipeline Road, north of Hastings Street and south of Fairhome Road. BC Hydro spokesperson Ted Olynyk said the tree falling on a power line caused an issue at the Goward substation. He added people may have heard bangs in the area.
According to BC Hydro, a total of 712 customers are without power and crews are doing repairs. Olynyk said they hope to have power back on for 600 customers shortly after 7 p.m. and the rest by midnight. The current estimated time on the BC Hydro website for power restoration is 12:30 a.m.
