More questions about traffic safety on Prospect Lake Road after fatal motorcycle crash on Monday

There are more questions and concerns on Tuesday from those living along a stretch of Prospect Lake Road in Saanich after a crash claimed the life of motorcyclist.

It happened Monday around 5 p.m. after the rider collided with a pickup truck on the 4000-block of Prospect Lake Road just south of Munn Road.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.

“This road is narrow, it is twisty, ” said Sgt. Zielinski with Saanich Police.

“But the weather conditions were clear and the road surface was dry.”

Two motorists did stop to try to help, but Saanich Police are still looking for witnesses to come forward.

A stretch of the road remained closed for several hours while police carried out an investigation.

The identity and age of the victim have not been released.

The fatality comes after a single-vehicle rollover in the same area on Friday sent one person to hospital.

Neighbours tell CHEK news that there is growing concern over the number of vehicles they say are speeding along Prospect Lake Road,  and that there have been a number of crashes in the same area over the past several months.
