A lab report unsealed after a jury convicted a Washington state man of killing a young Vancouver Island couple shows investigators found more DNA evidence linking him to the crime.

The Daily Herald of Everett, Washington, reports the D-N-A of William Talbott was found on zip ties discovered at the crime scene.

Talbott was found guilty last month of the murders of 18-year-old Tanya Van Cuylenborg and 20-year-old Jay Cook.

The couple from Saanich disappeared in November 1987 while on a trip to Seattle and their bodies were found in separate locations in northwestern Washington state.
