Metchosin suspicious death victim identified, connected vehicle found in Oak Bay

West Shore RCMP have identified the victim of a suspicious death in Metchosin as 60-year-old Martin Payne.

Payne was found dead in his home in the 1000-block of Brookview Drive Friday, after a report he was missing from work.

His red Ford F150 pickup truck was found by Oak Bay police earlier in the week on Woodburn Avenue.

Police say his death is suspicious and foul play is suspected.

Online, Payne said he was interested in hiking, biking, photography and cars. He also appeared be a family man with kids.

They are asking anyone who may have seen the victim’s red pickup truck or anyone associated to this vehicle between the afternoon of July 8th and July 9th at 1:00 p.m. to contact the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit information line at 250-380-6211.

The vehicle is described as an extended cab 4×4 with running boards, two tone red/grey, with a black metal headache rack and black bed rails.

The license plate is  7432HY.

Anyone who observed suspicious activity near the 1000-block of Brookview Drive in Metchosin is also asked to contact the VIIMCU information line.

The investigation is being lead by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit.
