A funeral procession will be held for Langford’s late Assistant Fire Chief, Lance Caven, at the end of this month.

Caven passed away from cancer at just 50 years of age after a 30-year career with the Langford Fire Department, leaving behind a wife and daughter.

The funeral procession will depart from the Centre Mountain Lellum Middle School and arrive at the Belmont Secondary School at 12:45 p.m., where the reception will be held starting at 1 p.m.

Members of the public are invited to watch the procession and attend the service.

Caven was a dedicated member of the Langford community, who first joined the department as a volunteer in 1991. In 2012, Caven was awarded the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada.

Expressions of sympathy or condolences for the local or the family can be sent to IAFF Local 2848, 2625 Peatt Rd., Victoria BC V9B 3T9.
