Members are needed for a Mountain Biking Advisory Committee that the CRD is creating to help develop mountain biking guidelines for their regional parks.

Those passionate about outdoor recreation can help guide and provide to the Capital Regional District’s parks department.

The Capital Regional District is creating a Mountain Biking Advisory Committee that will help develop mountain biking guidelines for CRD Regional Parks.

The advisory committee is made up of 11 members including four invited members and four members from the general public — who have an interest in mountain biking, recreation within the regional district and are familiar with the regional park system.

The four invited members are from various mountain biking organizations throughout the regional district and invitations have already been sent out to those individuals, according to the CRD.

However, applications the CRD said applications are open for four more committee members from the general public, two members who represent outdoor recreational interests outside of the mountain biking community and two members who represent conservation or naturalist interests.

Known as the MBAC, the committee would not have decision-making powers or abilities, but would come up with recommendations that would be presented to the CRD’s Regional Parks Committee. Members would serve on the committee will until the final mountain bike guidelines are approved by the CRD board.

Anyone interested in applying is asked to e-mail applications to [email protected] by June 19. Applications should include a biography that highlights one’s interest and relevant experiences.
