A man who allegedly threatened to shoot someone in downtown Victoria was arrested Friday in a police takedown caught on video.

Victoria police say the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) arrested the man after the weapons call, which happened just before 12:30 p.m. in the 1100-block of Pandora Avenue.

In a news release Monday, VicPD says patrol officers, as well as strike force and GVERT, responded to the scene.

They say the man fled the scene of the incident in a vehicle, but officers later located him near the intersection of Tyee Road and Wilson Street, where he was arrested.

Video footage sent to CHEK News shows officers pulling the man out of a white vehicle before arresting him and putting him in a police cruiser.

VicPD says he was then transported to police cells and held for court.

Anyone with information about the incident who has yet to speak with officers is asked to call VicPD’s report desk at 250-995-7654 extension 1.
