Man seriously injured after stabbing in Port Alberni

Port Alberni RCMP say a woman was arrested after a stabbing on Gertrude Street that left a man seriously injured on Tuesday.

At around 6:45 p.m., police responded to a stabbing in the 5100 block of Gertrude Street. When police arrived, they found a 45-year-old man from Port Alberni on the ground with a stab wound to his chest.

Police said the man was conscious and was able to communicate with officers. He suffered a serious but non-life threatening injury. He was transported to hospital by ambulance.

A 32-year-old female suspect was located by police at around 8:40 p.m. and was arrested without incident. Police said the man and woman are known to each other and police.
