Man found dead in North Saanich workshop following weekend fire

Officials confirm that a man was found dead after fire broke out in a North Saanich workshop over the weekend.

First responders were called to the structure fire at a property on Cresswell Road just off McTavish Road at around 3:45 a.m. Saturday.

RCMP said a woman and her child who lived in a residential part of the structure escaped the fire.

One person was transported to hospital and was said to be in stable condition, according to BC Emergency Health Services.

Police confirmed Monday that a man was found dead in the shop side of the structure.

Police say the fire is not considered suspicious and that they, the BC Coroners Service and the provincial fire investigator are continuing to look into the blaze.
