Man found dead in north Nanaimo, homicide investigation underway

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead in north Nanaimo, police say.

According to a Nanaimo RCMP, an adult male was found dead inside a commercial business at Long Lake Plaza, located on the corner of Rutherford Road and Island Highway North, at around 9 a.m. Saturday.

Wittnesses and RCMP later told CHEK News the man was found inside the Buzz Coffee House.

Mounties say officers were attending to the location for a wellness check when they located the deceased male inside along with another man, who was eventually taken into RCMP custody.

Forensic investigators spent the collecting evidence.

Few other details regarding the homicide were released.
