Campbell River RCMP is asking for help locating and identifying a suspect after a firearm was allegedly discharged in a wooded area south of the city.

A 911 call was made shortly after 1 p.m. on Nov. 23, directing officers to a wooded area off York Rd. that is popular with off-road enthusiasts.

The victim said they were confronted by a man operating a side-by-side while collecting firewood in the area.

The suspect then allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired it near the victim, then proceeded to assault the victim.

Officers are describing the suspect as a white man, approximately 50-60 years old, under 6 feet tall will a husky build.

He was operating a blue sports-style side-by-side.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Campbell River RCMP.
