RCMP arrested a man for allegedly exposing himself onboard a BC Ferries vessel on Thursday.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. onboard a sailing from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay.

The Sidney North Saanich RCMP was notified of the incident and met ferry staff at the terminal as soon as the boat docked.

Mounties say the man was quickly arrested for “committing an indecent act.” There was no threat to the public during the incident, according to RCMP.

The man was later released with a future court date and was taken to a shelter by RCMP due to the extreme cold weather the Island has been seeing this week.

“Sidney RCMP would like to thank the actions of BC Ferries staff. They dealt with this situation in a manner that ensured the safety of passengers and facilitated officers getting onto the boat quickly once it docked,” said Sidney/North Saanich RCMP Const. Tim Cosgrove in a statement.

Mounties say the investigation is ongoing.
