West Shore RCMP has arrested one man for drug trafficking after he was found sleeping in a stolen car.

On July 13, shortly after midnight West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a male sleeping in a white 2014 Toyota Truck while parked on Glenairlie Drive in View Royal.

Officers attended to check the wellbeing of the male, while on scene they determined the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Duncan. The suspect inside was arrested for possession of stolen property over $5,000 in relation to the stolen vehicle.

Upon searching him and the vehicle, officers uncovered a large quantity of drugs.  Police seized approximately 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 24 grams of fentanyl, and approximately four grams of crack. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The 41-year-old suspect was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court while police continue to investigate both the stolen truck and drug trafficking.
