A man has been tracked down and arrested by West Shore RCMP after he broke into Colwood Municipal Hall and stole a city truck.

According to police, the break-in took place on April 17 at approximately 1:36 a.m. Frontline officers responded to “a multiple hit” alarm at Colwood City Hall, located at 3300 Wishart Rd.

As officers headed to the scene they say they observed lights on the inside of the building and as they approached, a City of Colwood truck fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

Shortly after, officers were able to locate the stolen truck, which was a few blocks away, however, it was unoccupied.

An investigation into the incident was launched and on Tuesday, April 27, the West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrested an 18-year-old Langford resident in connection to the case.

The man has since been released by RCMP on an undertaking for a break and enter to a business and theft of a city truck.

The investigation is still ongoing and police are seeking to speak with anyone who may have possible information about the crime at Colwood Municipal Hall.

The public is being asked to contact the West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264 with any information.
