One person has been transported to a Victoria hospital following a stabbing in south Nanaimo.
According to Nanaimo RCMP, a man in his 30s was airlifted to an unidentified hospital in Victoria with a life-threatening stab wound that came during an altercation near a home on Clifford Road in Cedar.
Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP media spokesperson, said the incident was reported to officers at around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday morning. He said one person was detained but later released and that the suspect remains at large.
“There have been no arrests made,” he said.
O’Brien said police consider the stabbing an “isolated incident” and that there is “no further” risk to the public.
