Vancouver Island’s homicide unit is investigating after a man was fatally stabbed in a rural area near Lake Cowichan over the weekend.
Police received a number of 911 calls on Saturday, March 26, reporting an altercation between two men at a home.
Officers arrived to find several people in the home, and the man who was stabbed was declared dead by paramedics.
Police took one man into custody at the scene who was later released and investigators have not confirmed whether any charges have been laid.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and Lake Cowichan RCMP say an investigation is ongoing, and the BC Coroner Service is also conducting its own investigation. Police maintain there is no risk to the public.
