London Drugs says it will be closed for a third day to continue the investigation into the cybersecurity incident.
The store, which operates only in Western Canada, announced on Sunday that its stores would be closing after it learned it was the victim of the incident.
The company says it is remaining closed “out of an abundance of caution” and it is working with third-party cybersecurity experts to put the operations back online in a safe manner.
On Monday, the company said it had no reason to believe that customer data was affected and is now saying it is continuing to assess whether any data has been compromised. The company says if it discovers data was accessed, it will contact those affected individuals.
“Recognizing the impact these closures have had on our customers and employees across Western Canada, it remains our priority to continue working around the clock to have all stores fully operational,” says Clint Mahlman, COO and president of London Drugs.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this very difficult time and will provide updates as available.”
The company says its phone lines will remain off, but will be restored as soon as possible.
In the meantime, pharmacy staff are on location at all the London Drugs stores to help customers with urgent pharmacy needs. Anyone who needs access to prescriptions is asked to visit their London Drugs location in person during regular business hours.
