First responders and health care workers fighting COVID-19 will have exclusive access to all 82 locations during the store's last hour of operation.

London Drugs will now have dedicated shopping hours for frontline workers fighting against COVID-19.

Starting Wednesday, first responders and health care workers will have exclusive access to all 82 locations during the store’s last hour of operation, from 8 to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and from 7 to 8 pm on Sundays.

London Drugs president Clint Mahlman says it was important to save the later hours for these workers.

“They often work long shifts and many stores are closed by the time they are off their day shifts,” said Mahlman.

“We know it is a stressful time for those working on the frontline of this health crisis and it is imperative we do everything we can to help these individuals stay healthy and take care of them as best we can.”

London Drugs has said the dedicated shopping hour will be for first responders including:

  • firefighters
  • police officers
  • ambulance paramedics
  • active military personnel

The dedicated hours will also be for frontline workers including:

  • hospital staff
  • care home staff
  • medical centre employees
  • pharmacists.

“From pharmacists to hospital staff, paramedics, nursing home employees and volunteers, we applaud all of your heroic work to care for people under these very trying times,” said Mahlman.

To enter the store, frontline workers will be asked to show their Employer ID or credentials from their place of work.
