Lefties score early and often to take down HarbourCats

CHEK

WATCH: The Port Angeles Lefties were all over the Victoria HarbourCats pitching on Friday night, a six-run second inning would be more than enough for the visitors, as they took down the ‘Cats 10-4 at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park.

Sam Brunnig took the mound for the HarbourCats, and in the second inning he found himself in some serious trouble, with the bases loaded for Port Angeles, and nobody out.

Brunnig would surrender a two-run single before Matthew Christian of Port Angeles launched a grand slam over the wall in left-center field, that would make it 6-0 Lefties.

It also spelled the end of Brunnig’s night on the mound, going just 1.1 innings pitched.

The HarbourCats would make a late push in the bottom of the ninth, but it was simply too much ground to make up, as the Lefties took the first of a three-game set.

Game two goes tonight at Royal Athletic Park.
