11:02 a.m. – BC Hydro has restored power on Pender Island, which had been out for more than 12 hours.
There are a few smaller power outages on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
The biggest of those being fixed is on Galiano Island, where 84 customers are expected to still be without power until 1 p.m.
10:25 a.m. -More than 1,500 customers remain without power on Pender Island.
Tree across power lines took out power just after 9 p.m. Tuesday night.
8:23 a.m. – BC Hydro reports another 800 people on Galiano Island are without power because of a wind storm hitting the Southern Gulf Island.
The power went out for those customers just after 8 a.m.
The estimated time to restore power is 8:45 a.m.
BC Hydro reports more than 5,500 people on the Southern Gulf Island and Vancouver Island are without power.
7:28 a.m. – A wind storm has knocked out power on Galiano Island and is affecting nearly 2,400 BC Hydro customers.
The outage happened at 6:52 a.m. and brings the number of people on the Southern Gulf Islands and Southern Vancouver Island without power to more than 4,700.
Original Story – BC Hydro crews are working to get power restored for more than 4,000 Southern Gulf Island customers because of wind storms overnight.
An estimated 2,200 have been without power since just after 9 p.m. Tuesday night on Mayne and Saturna Islands because trees have fallen across power lines.
BC Hydro also says more than 2,200 people are in the dark this morning after trees fell across lines just after 9 p.m. Tuesday night on Pender Island.
Wind has also caused smaller power outages Wednesday morning on Salt Spring Island, Galiano Island and Sooke.
