4 Victoria restaurants make it on list of top 100 brunch spots in Canada

This week, OpenTable released its annual list of the top 100 brunch spots in Canada, and four restaurants in Greater Victoria made the cut.

The restaurant review and reservation website says it looked through 1.3 million reviews made between Feb. 1, 2023 and Jan. 31, 2024 to create its annual “Top 100 Brunch Restaurants” list.

Restaurants that are on the list needed a minimum number of reviews on OpenTable to qualify, and after that, they were evaluated on several categories, including number of ratings, percentage of five-star reviews, number of direct searches and percentage of reservations made.

The four restaurants in Greater Victoria to make it on OpenTable’s Top 100 Brunch Restaurants list this year are:

The four Island restaurants were among 25 in B.C. to make the cut.

British Columbia had the second-highest number of restaurants on the list, while Ontario had the most included with a whopping 50 of the top 100 best brunch spots in Canada for the year. Quebec had the third-highest total, with 10 eateries on the list.

OpenTable notes that its list was released in alphabetical order, with individual restaurants not assigned a specific ranking.

The company says it released its list just ahead of Mother’s Day, May 12.

According to OpenTable’s data, 51 per cent of Canadians are planning to dine out on Mother’s Day this year.

This is the second year in a row that Boom + Batten, Glo Restaurant and Vista 18 Restaurant + Lounge made the cut for the top 100 brunch spots.
