Large scale search underway for missing Nanaimo woman

Nanaimo RCMP and Nanaimo Search and Rescue are on the lookout for a missing woman who was last seen on Thursday morning.

Crews are searching for 48-year-old Nancy Gagne, who was last seen at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 1.

A sweeping search was launched later that day, which spanned until about midnight before restarting again Friday morning.

“Based on evidence, search efforts are focussing on the area of the Millstone River from Bowen Road, to the Nanaimo Harbor,” said RCMP in a statement Friday.

Gagne is described as a white woman who stands 5’7” and weighs approximately 150 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing multi-coloured pajamas.

Mounties say the picture provided of her is recent.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
