A woman has been arrested after breaking into a home while the owner and her children were sleeping.

On Thursday, Dec. 5, officers responded to a call of a break and enter into a residential home near the 2000 block of Sooke Road in Langford.

They say the homeowner was woken up by a woman crying and knocking on her front door demanding to be let, followed by the sound of glass breaking from a basement window.

Officers arrested the intruder and brought her to hospital — she was believed to be under the influence of narcotics.

“This was a scary ordeal for the homeowner who also had their three children within the home,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer with the West Shore RCMP in a statement.

“No one was harmed in this incident and the suspect was arrested for unlawfully being in a dwelling and mischief under $5000.”
