A very good girl named The Amazing Miss Andie won Best in Breed at the 142nd Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York on Tuesday.

The Newfoundland dog from Ladysmith first competed last year and was named Best of Opposite Sex.

Then on Tuesday, the three-and-a-half, 125 pounds dog took home Best in Breed.

The Amazing Miss Andie is owned by Doug and Cindy Savory, who live in rural Ladysmith and are members of the Nanaimo Kennel Club, and Joan Casler. Casler lives in Cobble Hill and bred the Newfie.

To qualify for the Westminister Kennel Club Dog Show, a dog must have a top-five ranking in the U.S. or get a spot in a lottery.
