A 39-year-old Ladysmith man is facing multiple charges in connection with an armed robbery in June and the theft of four rings from a jewelry store in April.
On June 13, 2019, Nanaimo RCMP arrested Dustin Sean Williams at his home in Ladysmith. He appeared in Nanaimo Provincial Court on June 17 and was charged with robbery, pointing a firearm at an individual and committing an indictable offence with his face masked.
Police said the charges are in connection with an armed robbery on June 5 at the Best Buy Liquor Store on Jingle Pot Road in Nanaimo. During the robbery, Williams allegedly pointed a firearm at a clerk and stole money from a till. Police said his face was covered and he fled before police could arrest him.
According to police, a search warrant carried out at Williams resident on June 13 led to evidence in the robbery.
Williams was also charged on June 17 with theft over $5,000 in connection with a theft on April 10. Four rings, valued at approximately $21,000, were stolen from Mappins Jewellers in Woodgrove Centre in Nanaimo. Police have found one of the rings and are still looking for the other three.
Williams was remanded into police custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 25.
