A kayaker has died after being discovered overturned in the waters near Nanaimo.
Around 2:30 this afternoon the Nanaimo Port Authority responded to reports of an overturned kayak in the water near the 100 block of Cilaire Drive in Nanaimo.
The port authority and Nanaimo RCMP brought the kayak to shore.
BC Ambulance Service responded to the beach and provided medical assistance to the kayaker and brought them to hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
No further details have been released as the investigation continues.
