Friends of missing woman Sara Sherry are convinced that there are still clues to be found.
They’re searching the wilderness of Nanoose Bay with hopes they’ll be able to bring the Errington woman home, 24 days after she vanished there.
“Knowing she’s out there missing, it’s hard for all of us that keep going out every weekend,” said Sarah Galbraith, a longtime friend of Sherry’s.
Dozens of people close to Sherry returned to the area to search for her for a third weekend on March 9 and 10, combing roads and trails off Northwest Bay Logging Road, where the mother of two vanished on Feb 15.
A massive search and rescue effort followed the 45-year-old’s disappearance, and on Feb. 23, Sherry’s truck was located. According to Galbraith, it was parked in a ditch in the snowline.
“It looks like it’s hung up on a rock, so that’s what hindered her ability to get her vehicle out of that situation,” said Galbraith.
Sherry was not found.
Francine Tracey, who lives close to where the search was concentrated, told CHEK News the disappearance has worried people in the area.
“Our concern is we ride our horses there, and whatever happened to her, we’d like to know,” said Galbraith.
We’ll be looking for her when we ride our horses out there, we’ll be looking for her all the time.”
According to Galbraith, Sherry was an avid hiker and enjoyed exploring the mid-Island.
Galbraith said she is convinced that her friend meant to come home that night, and added that searchers plan to keep looking until they find her.
“She loves her family, she loves her animals, she loves her friends,” she added.
On Saturday, friends found footprints that they believe are Sherry’s and have contacted officials for confirmation.
The search stretches on for the missing mother, with very few clues to go on.
