Island Health has announced it has relocated two separate COVID-19 clinics in Nanaimo and consolidated them into the same facility.

According to a release from Island Health, the Beban Park COVID-19 immunization clinic and the Vancouver Island University testing and collection clinic are relocating to Nanaimo North Town Centre at 4750 Rutherford Road.

The consolidated clinics will be in Unit #114, which is the former location of Urban Planet. Island Health notes, however, that a wall will separate the two clinics with separate entrances and exits, intended to ensure health and safety.

The COVID-19 testing and collection site opened at Nanaimo North Town Centre on Tuesday, November 9, accepting appointments daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are is no walk-in availability for testing sites, notes Island Health. Access to the testing clinic will be from the exterior of the mall.

The immunization clinic will begin operations in the new location on Tuesday, November 16 and the health authority says that the facility is large enough “to accommodate everyone who is eligible for the vaccine, including younger patients in a comfortable, kid-friendly space.”

Access to the immunization clinic will be from inside the mall.
