There has been a spike in overdoses in the provincial capital lately, according to health officials.

The health authority recommends that those who are planning to take substances to have them checked at their local OPS/SCS enhanced testing or to “try a little before your regular hit.”

It also encourages users to “fix with a friend” or be close to help, if using alone.

Users should also have Naloxone kits nearby.

Overdose prevention sites are located at 941 Pandora Ave., 535 Ellice St. There are also services available for residents at Topaz Park, according to Island Health.
