Island Health declares new COVID-19 outbreaks Tuesday night

Island Health has declared three new COVID-19 outbreaks on Vancouver Island Tuesday night.

One is at Victoria General Hospital in the 6A and 6B Neuromedicine units, where nine patient cases have been identified.

Island Health says no other areas of the hospital are affected by the outbreak.

Five patient cases have been identified to an outbreak at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

The outbreak is limited to the fifth-floor general medicine unit.

Island Health has also declared an outbreak at the Nanaimo Seniors Village assisted living facility in Nanaimo.

Two resident cases have been identified related to this outbreak, which is limited to the assisted living side of the facility and the health authority says the long-term care home is not currently affected.

Island Health also declared outbreaks over at Luther Court long-term care home in Victoria, Sidney All Care long-term care home and Sidney Care Home long-term care home.
