A long-term care unit at a Greater Victoria hospital is currently experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19.
Island Health Tuesday declared an outbreak at the long-term care units of Saanich Peninsula Hospital after two staff members and three residents tested positive for COVID-19.
“The outbreak declaration is limited to the extended care units and Saanich Peninsula Hospital is not affected,” Island Health said in a news release.
The health authority also declared the outbreak in two rooms on the general medicine unit on 4B at Victoria General Hospital over on Tuesday.
That outbreak had first been declared on Dec. 31.
Island Health says only two patient cases were attributed to the outbreak.
