An investigation is underway after a fatal work-site accident occurred in the Cowichan Valley last week.

According to WorkSafeBC, they were notified about a serious work-site incident resulting in the death of one person that took place at around 11:30 a.m. in 2600-block of Boys Road, near Duncan, last Thursday (Oct. 28).

The incident involved a pickup truck and resulted in paramedics transporting one individual to hospital, a British Columbia Emergency Health Services spokesperson told CHEK News.

Few other details about the incident are known and it is not clear whether the individual transported to the hospital was the individual who died — BCEHS has told CHEK News they do not have information about what happens to patients once they end up in the hospital since they are no longer under their care.

However, the Cowichan Valley Citizen reported Monday that the death occurred at Eagle Auto Wrecking.

WorkSafeBC says it has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident as well as any contributing factors.

The BC Coroners Service has also confirmed a fatality at the Boys Road location and told CHEK News they are conducting their own investigation into the death.
