WatchInvestigators are continuing to investigate after three people were found dead near Whisky Creek. Sources have also named one of the deceased.

Major crime investigators continued their investigation Tuesday into the deaths of three people and the shooting injury of a man in a remote area in Whiskey Creek, west of Coombs.

The body of a man was found by a person riding a motorcycle along a forest service road on Sunday.

Police later found a burned-out travel trailer with the bodies of two other adults inside and then a man was found shot but alive in a separate trailer and is recovering in hospital.

On Tuesday, a tow truck carried away one of the vehicles from the crime scene.

Also on Tuesday, multiple sources said one of the people found dead was 52-year-old Shawn McGrath. McGrath has a lengthy criminal record dating back 20 years and was facing a drug trafficking charge that was slated to go to trial in the spring.

Oceanside RCMP and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit have not named any of the deceased.

Police say the deaths were targeted and they don’t believe the general public is at risk, although they wouldn’t speculate on a motive.

Investigators have said they are going to be in the Whisky Creek area until at least Thursday.
