IIO launches investigation regarding incident in Sooke

An incident in which a man has died is now being investigated by the Independent Investigation Office (IIO).

On June 27, the Sooke RCMP was called to a residence on Kemp Lake Road at around 1:50 p.m. by a man who appeared to be in emotional distress.

Authorities report that officers responded to the scene, but the man was later found deceased. Police say the incident posed no threat to the public.

Witnesses tell CHEK News that the area was blocked off by police for several hours.

An investigation has been launched by the IIO to confirm the details of the interaction between the man and police.
