Hundreds honour Saanich councillor Vic Derman at public memorial

hundreds of people gathered at the Victoria Conference Centre Sunday afternoon, to honour Vic Derman and to celebrate his life.

Longtime Saanich councillor and CRD Director Vic Derman has died at the age of 72 on March 17.

A family member tells Chek an autopsy shows Derman “died of a massive heart attack in his sleep.”

Derman was first elected to Saanich Council in 2002 and has served on the CRD Board since 2005.

Some of the speakers included Saanich Mayor Richard Atwell, Saanich South MLA Lana Popham and his daughter Michelle Derman.
