RCMP have confirmed that human remains were found along Neck Point in Nanaimo earlier this week.

The remains were found late Wednesday morning by someone walking on the beach, according to the Nanaimo RCMP.

The body was “highly decomposed” and police are still working to identify the person. Several tattoos on the body may help with the identification process, Mounties say.

No further information is available at this time, according to RCMP.

Neck Point Park is located in the north end of the city. It includes a thick forested area as well as several beaches.
