Highway 4 was briefly closed in both directions between Port Alberni and Cathedral Grove (MacMillan Provincial Park) on Monday afternoon due to a crash.
Port Alberni Fire Capt. Randy Thoen said the crash was reported at around 1:26 p.m. east of Port Alberni, about three to four kilometres up the Port Alberni summit.
Two vehicles, a car and a truck, were involved in the collision. The truck ended up going down an embankment.

Thoen said both drivers are out of the vehicles. Minor injuries were reported and the vehicles are being towed away from the area. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Drive BC said the closure was at Elkford Road (three kilometres east of Port Alberni). The highway was closed following the crash but opened to single-lane alternating traffic just before 2:30 p.m. It then opened to all traffic after 3 p.m.
