A portion of Highway 14 (West Coast Road) is closed in both directions between Jordan River and Port Renfrew due to fallen trees that have cut the power to local residents.

DriveBC took to Twitter around 7:30 a.m. Thursday to remind drivers that a more than 40-kilometre stretch of the road, the only one to and from Port Renfrew, was closed near Loss Creek.

No detour or estimated time of reopening is available, DriveBC added.

Meanwhile, BC Hydro says 546 customers in the area woke up to no electricity after trees fell on its wires the night before, around 9:45 p.m.

Hydro crews are on-site working to restore the power, the company said in a service notice.
