BC Ferries said it is expecting heavy traffic over the next two weekends.

BC Ferries is advising customers that there will be more passengers than usual on the Swartz Bay – Tsawwassen route during the next two Saturdays.

According to BC Ferries, hundreds of people with Scouts Canada are going to Camp Barnard in Sooke for the Scouts Canada 2019 Pacific Jamboree. The jamboree runs from July 6 to July 13.

High traffic volumes for both foot passengers and vehicles are expected on the following sailings:

Saturday, July 6
Vancouver (Tsawwassen) to Victoria (Swartz Bay)
8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday, July 13
Victoria (Swartz Bay) to Vancouver (Tsawwassen)
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Drivers planning to travel during the popular sailing times are advised to make a reservation online at https://www.bcferries.com/. Those without a reservation are asked to arrive at the terminal 45 to 60 minutes early to increase their chance of making their sailing. Drivers can also travel later in the afternoon when it may be less busy.

Foot passengers are also advised to arrive early or consider alternate sailing times, as the popular sailing times are likely to fill up. There are sailings hourly between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay during the summer months.
