High levels of bacteria at Beaver Beach at Beaver Lake have prompted a health warning from officials.
Island Health and the CRD issued the warning after taking water samples from the water — part of Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park . They say it may be unsafe for swimming and recreational activities.
As a precautionary measure, it is not recommended for people or pets to enter the water.
Signs are also being posted at the lake. Further sampling is underway.
In mid-August Hamsterly Beach in connected Elk Lake also had an advisory issued.
It was removed by August 30.
